What a great debut novel! I was curious about this book ever since I read the synopsis. I'm so glad I finally read it, I was not disappointed. The story flows flawlessly from page one until the end, and I was still trying to swipe for more chapters! I wasn't ready for the end and I will be one clicking as soon as book two is released. I like when there are dual POVs, you get insight to how both are feeling, and it's not easy to write both without repetitiveness and overlapping or even jumping in the story, Mareta mastered the dual POVs. I loved getting to know how both, Julia and Derick, were feeling. It makes the story more relateable knowing why they say or do something, you don't wonder how the other really thinks. There is a huge emotional roller coaster in the story, I was all over the place, one page I was laughing the next my heart was hurting. I felt Mareta's heart and soul while reading this book, she did an amazing job with writing something tough and turning it into something so beautiful. I can't wait to read more from her, she clearly knows how to capture the reader's heart!Product details

This is the first book I've ever written by this author. from the first sentence that I read I was hooked. i've never read a book where I got into it so quickly I couldn't put it down I wanted to continue reading it and reading it until I got to the end. it brought out every emotion in me I laughed I cried it was just an awesome book one of the best books that I've read in a really really long time. there's only one problem I cannot wait until the second one comes out it's going to seem like forever until the next book! awesome job Mareta, you are a wonderful writer!!!
Very good story. From the beginning I was hooked, I couldn't believe that I was balling my eyes out. My heart was heavy over the emotional situation. I just wish she would of told him about her past. However, the way this book ends it leaves you wanting more. It took me 3 - 4 hours read it in one day! I look forward for the next book.
There's such tragedy at the beginning, kind of made me doubt where the story was going. Hanging in there was the best idea. I don't think I would have been able to cope as well, but she did and it was more than definitely worth it. This is an absolutely exquisite book and am on pins and needles for book 2.

This here was a good ole sappy romance novel. I wasn't really sure what to expect, but once I got into the story, I didn't want to stop reading it. I really liked the characters and was invested in their relationship; I wanted to know where it was going and if it was going to survive secrets, painful pasts, and fear of the unknown. As I got closer to the end, I was worried about where the story would stop--I'm not a big fan of cliffy endings. Mareta chose a good ending spot and I'm curious to see where Julia and Derick go in book two.
As a debut, this was well delivered. There were some structural things that bothered me and certain areas where I thought more development would be beneficial. However, nothing was so distracting that I wanted to abandon the story. My attention was held and that's what a good book is supposed to do!

This is the first book I've read by this author and it's the first time I've heard of it . . . but I was truly pleasantly surprised. I loved the cover from the get go and I hoped I wouldn't be disappointed and I wasn't. It was a feel good type of book even if the start wasn't all flowers and rainbows.
Told in dual POV the book mainly follows our heroine, Julia and how she's trying to get her life back on track after a heart shattering event. She's one strong leading lady - one thing I always appreciate in my heroines. Although she has suffered great loss early in her life, she doesn't let that define her. Julia fights for what she wants and learns to move forwards in the memory of those she's loved and lost. After 6 years of grieving she doesn't know if she's ready to let go of her past, but along comes Derick and he shows her it's ok to let go and enjoy life again.
Derick is a great hero. He's one of the good guys - he's a hard working man with a wonderful soul who has suffered heartbreak at the hands of his ex-wife, but he's ready to get back onto the dating scene. and in Julia he has found the perfect person to do that with.
Although the book is a bit short, I did love that the author didn't force their relationship - it moved at a slow and steady pace, a truly believable one. They started off as friends and moved on to lovers; I adored seeing them together - they went on sweet dates, revealed their selves before jumping into 'more'.
Although I really liked the book - I'm a sucker for second chance romance - I did wish their story would've ended in this book. I will definitely read the next one as I want to see where the author is going to take Julia and Derick's romance and because I enjoyed her writing style. The writing flows naturally, it's easy to keep up with and the plot moves forward effortlessly. The author did a great job at capturing my attention from the get go and didn't lose me along the way. Kudos to that.
I recommend this book to second chance romance lovers. I hope Julia and Derick will capture your heart like they did mine.

Its not often you read a book these days and share second chances. This book was insightful and ready to open doors for personal growth. I loved the story the characters were complex. I found them to be rooted in a real world facing real problems and coming out on top!
